Janata Dal (United), commonly known as JD(U), is an Indian political party formed in 1999 and historically centred in Bihar. It has participated in state and national politics and has emphasised governance, social justice, development, and welfare programmes. Its political priorities have included rural infrastructure, education, public health, representation of disadvantaged communities, and improvements in public administration.
