The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) is an Indian political party with historical roots in Hyderabad, where the organisation was founded on 12 November 1927 to promote the socio-economic and educational development of Muslims. Following the political upheaval surrounding Hyderabad's integration into India in 1948, the original organisation ceased to exist and was revived in 1958 under the leadership of Maulvi Abdul Wahed Owaisi. AIMIM entered electoral politics through municipal elections in Hyderabad and later established a sustained presence in the Telangana Legislative Assembly and the Lok Sabha. The party has expanded its electoral activities into other states, including Maharashtra and Bihar. Its stated agenda focuses on political representation, education, socio-economic development, and the rights of Muslims, Dalits, Adivasis, Other Backward Classes, minorities, and other underprivileged communities.
