The Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) was founded in 2000 by Ram Vilas Paswan and has been associated particularly with Bihar's politics. The party has emphasised the representation and advancement of Dalits and other disadvantaged communities, alongside social welfare and development. Following internal splits, separate political formations emerged from the original party, each continuing under distinct names and leadership.
