Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) is a regional political party formed in Assam in 1985 following the Assam Movement and the signing of the Assam Accord. The party has emphasized Assamese identity, regional autonomy, protection of local cultural and linguistic interests, and the political and economic development of Assam. It has contested state and national elections and has participated in coalition governments in the state.
